Why Australians use a UK address
A great many British retailers will not post to Australia at all, and the ones that do often charge more for shipping than the item itself costs. Expats stock up on the food, brands and baby items that are hard to find here or heavily marked up, and everyone else uses it for the shops that simply do not ship this far.

Remote and regional addresses can take a little longer than the capitals, and DHL will say so when the label is created.
What a box to Australia costs
One flat price for the size of box your things fit into, with a weight allowance included. Adding one more light item usually costs nothing at all, which is the whole point of filling a box rather than sending parcels.
Go over the included weight and it is £8.50 per kilogram to Australia, charged only on the excess. Go more than a little over and we move you to the next size up when that works out cheaper. You see this while your box is filling, not after it is weighed.

Customs, duty and biosecurity
Australia is stricter than almost anywhere else we ship to, and it is worth knowing that before you order rather than after.
Bringbox collects duty and tax upfront and settles them on your behalf, so nothing is owed on delivery.
Two things matter beyond that. Australia applies GST to imported goods, with its own thresholds and rules on what is taxed and at what value. And Australian biosecurity is genuinely severe: food, seeds, plant material, timber and anything of animal origin get far more scrutiny than they would arriving in Dubai or Toronto, and officers will hold or destroy things that do not comply.

How long does it take to ship from the UK to Australia?
About 2–3 working days from the day your box is dispatched. Boxes go with DHL and reach Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide and every other Australian address. Before dispatch the timing is up to you: your box stays open as long as you like and only leaves when you say it is ready.
How much does it cost to send a box from the UK to Australia?

Do I pay customs or GST on a parcel to Australia?
On Australian boxes today, duty and tax are settled before your box leaves the UK, so it arrives with nothing more to pay. Australia sets its own thresholds and rates, published by the Australian Taxation Office and the Australian Border Force, and those are the ones to check rather than a figure from a shipping company. Your shipping summary always states whether duty is paid upfront or on arrival, before you pay.
What can I not send to Australia?
Australia enforces some of the strictest biosecurity rules in the world, and is considerably tougher than most destinations on food, seeds, plant and timber products, and anything of animal origin. Some things that pass easily elsewhere will be held or destroyed on arrival. Can I send British food and groceries to Australia?
Some, and it needs care. Tinned, dried and packaged food can generally travel, but Australia treats food imports far more seriously than most countries and biosecurity officers can hold or destroy anything that does not comply.
